A boy with haemophilia floats in the water at Laguna de Bacalar.
Haemophilia, a rare and mostly inherited genetic condition, impairs the blood´s ability to clot. People with the condition bleed longer after injuries, bruise easily, and are at higher risk of internal bleeding.
I accompanied a group of boys with this condition for a couple of weeks, taking portraits of them in the water to expose this precious feeling of being free momentarily forgetting the complications that come with living with hemophillia.
Only through the water they can be safe and free.
